Sugar Events was founded by Riddhi Patel and Sahil Mehta in 2016, bringing together two sides of every celebration, planning and entertainment, under one team. Long before Sugar Events, Sahil was the one everyone handed the aux cord to. Whether it was house parties, family gatherings, or the countless road trips across North America to Bhangra competitions, music naturally found its way to him. His first opportunity behind the DJ booth came in his fraternity's basement, performing for a crowd of more than 200 people, a night that sparked a passion and career he never looked back from. Beyond weddings, Sahil is also a co-founder of Furteelay Dance, one of Michigan's premier Bhangra academies, where he has spent years building a community around dance, culture, and performance. At the same time, Riddhi was discovering her passion from a different perspective. Growing up in a large family, she naturally became the person everyone trusted to organize timelines, coordinate vendors, and keep celebrations running smoothly. In 2013, she coordinated her first wedding at Royal Albert's Palace in Edison, New Jersey, an experience that confirmed her passion for wedding planning. Today, in addition to leading Sugar Events' planning division, Riddhi is an accomplished wedding choreographer whose performances have accumulated millions of views on YouTube, helping couples and families create unforgettable moments on and off the dance floor. Today, what started as two founders has grown into a team of more than 25 professionals, including DJs, MCs, wedding planners, coordinators, dhol players, choreographers, lighting specialists, and production staff. Together, Sugar Events produces over 300 events every year, averaging 4 to 5 weddings each weekend, while traveling throughout the United States and beyond for destination celebrations. The planning side and the entertainment side are run together, by the same people, which is the part most couples don't realize they'll value until the wedding day. The team building your timeline is the same team standing behind the DJ booth, coordinating vendors, cueing entrances, and reading the room all night long, so nothing gets lost between the plan and the celebration.
